Ivica Dačić (Serbian Cyrillic: Ивица Дачић, pronounced [îʋitsa dâtʃitɕ]) (born 1 January 1966, in Prizren, SFR Yugoslavia[1]) is a Serbian politician. He is the leader of Socialist Party of Serbia and is First Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia and Minister of Internal Affairs.[1]
He was brought up in Žitorađa, where his family still lives.[2]
Ivica Dačić was a presidential candidate in the Serbian presidential election, 2004 for the Socialist Party of Serbia where he finished 5th with 125,952 votes.[3]
As of 2010, he is under protection from Serbian police personnel, due to threats from the Serbian mafia who have threatened they will kidnap his son or daughter after the measures by the government to tackle organized crime.[2]
